CONTEXT

Lunar Gala is a fashion show attended by thousands, celebrating Lunar New Year and the arts at Carnegie Mellon.

Originally a Taiwanese Student Association event, Lunar Gala has grown to the largest fashion event in Pittsburgh. I co-creative directed the 30th anniversary show, leading a team of over 60 members across print, motion, web, photo, cinematography, and set design.

LG REFRESH

THE BRIEF

Prior to 2026's theme reveal, Creative updated and expanded the general Lunar Gala brand to reflect its origins and generate hype for the 30th Anniversary show.

FABLE BRAND

THE BRIEF

We selected FABLE as the 2026 theme to explore nostalgia and the conflict between our roots and our futures.

Fables are the stories and lessons that we carry, pass down, retell, and reimagine.

Drawing from Chinese and Taiwanese tradition, the core motif is a window (漏窗) that creates glimpses into other worlds.

FABLE is a story in four parts: Follow, Wander, Trace, and Discern. The grid and colors evolve to create intrigue and set each act's tone.

PRINT

PRINT

We worked with the Print team to produce posters to advertise the show, a booklet program, and various other collateral.

SET

SET

We worked with the Set team to create a stage that extended the brand into the physical world without blocking the fashion.

MOTION

MOTION

We worked with the Motion team to create visuals for social media and fashion backdrops.

WEB

WEB

We worked with the Web team to create a branded event website that celebrates the people who made Fable possible. (2026.lunargala.org)

PHOTO

We worked with the Photo team to document each line and take headshots of all LG members.
